Abomination!!! Oh it is an abomination. In fact, it is a serious abomination.
‘…He that JUSTIFIETH THE WICKED, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are ABOMINATION TO THE LORD…’ (Proverbs 17:15)
Don’t try it. The Bible says it is an ABOMINATION TO THE LORD! Not even to man….TO THE LORD!!! TO THE LORD!!!
So now, the search is on for who will commit this serious abomination. Oh who will dare ‘justify the wicked’ and commit this abomination!!! Only to keep flipping your Bible pages and get shocked when you got to Romans 4:5.
‘…But to him that worketh not, but believeth on GOD THAT JUSTIFIETH THE UNGODLY, his faith is COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS…’ (Romans 4:5)
Interesting. The abomination seems to be committed here. This time around, it’s not man that is committing this abomination.
‘…But to him that worketh not, but believeth on GOD THAT JUSTIFIETH THE UNGODLY, his faith is COUNTED FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS…’ (Romans 4:5)
‘…on GOD THAT JUSTIFIETH THE UNGODLY…’
Now listen carefully: there’s something fascinating about reading the Bible…with the mindset of the gospel. Yes, it is an abomination to GOD if any man dares to justify the wicked! But now it is God who is JUSTIFYING THE UNGODLY!
What could be happening here? Ok, first let’s clarify this: it is impossible for God to commit an ABOMINATION!
‘…far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity…’ (Job 34:10)
Alright? If Romans 4:5 stated that GOD JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY…then it implies that SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED!!! What happened? Well… CHRIST happened! Read this verse carefully:
‘…For God made CHRIST, who never sinned, to be the offering for OUR SIN, so that we could be MADE RIGHT with God THROUGH CHRIST…’ (2Cor 5:21 NLT)
Ah ah… God (full of love) played His card perfectly well! Since it is an abomination to ‘justify the ungodly’…(Prov 17:15) And all have sinned and come short of God’s glory…(Rom 3:23) God simply sent His ‘godly’ Son…to come and die for the ‘ungodly’ Ones…(John 1:29)
Now the game has changed. God now JUSTIFIES THE UNGODLY that believes in His Son! It now becomes an abomination to ‘GOD’ if He does NOT Justify the ‘ungodly’ in CHRIST! Wow!
I know that’s a mouthful… I concur. But in the context of salvation, there is no need being ashamed of the gospel. So I can reverently repeat it: It is now an abomination to ‘GOD’ if He does NOT Justify the ‘ungodly’ in CHRIST! Looks licentious, yet it is the only source of power to live the godly life that pleases God. That statement was simply recorded almost verbatim in Romans 3:26.
‘…God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for HE HIMSELF IS FAIR AND JUST, and he declares sinners to BE RIGHT IN HIS SIGHT WHEN THEY BELIEVE IN JESUS…’ (Romans 3:26 NLT)
Wow! The Living Bible (TLB) will further assist with this;
‘…And now in these days also he can receive sinners in this same way because Jesus took away their sins. BUT ISN’T THIS UNFAIR FOR GOD TO LET CRIMINALS GO FREE, and say that they are innocent? No, for he does it ON THE BASIS OF THEIR TRUST IN JESUS who took away their sins…’ (Romans 3:26 TLB)
Glory to God! That was how the abomination was committed ‘righteously’! Christ changed the game. This abomination was righteously averted by God and ended up changing the definition of ‘Holiness’ from being an ‘obligation’ into being an ‘appreciation’! As we see ‘how much He loves us’… we end up ‘loving Him back uncontrollably’!
‘…for we LOVE Him… BECAUSE… he first LOVED us…’ (1John 4:19)
Hallelujah. Now we can boldly join Paul in declaring Romans 8:34…
‘…Who then will condemn us? NO ONE–for Christ Jesus died FOR US and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, PLEADING FOR US…’ (Romans 8:34)
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain.
Amen.
