Bought With A Price

Check out this verse:

‘…Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which WHEN A MAN HATH FOUND, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and SELLETH ALL THAT HE HATH, AND BUYETH THAT FIELD…’ (Matt 13:44)

Have you seen that verse before? What is this important Treasure? And who is this buyer that sold ALL THAT HE HAS… just to have this Treasure???

The conventional way of preaching this is more from the LAW perspective! Let me try to be a Law preacher on this: …you need to sell all you have to buy your salvation… Jesus is the Treasure in the field… Until you give up all you have… you can’t have this Jesus…

The only problem with this line of thought is that when Jesus told a man to ‘sell all that he has’ and follow Him, the Bible reported that: ‘…when he heard this, he became very SORROWFUL…’ (Luke 18:23)

Man at its best will become SORROWFUL when demanded to give up ALL he has to follow Christ! But the parable we are looking at says: ‘…when a man hath found, he hideth, AND FOR JOY thereof goeth and SELLETH ALL THAT HE HATH, AND BUYETH THAT FIELD…’ (Matt 13:44)

Did you get that? The man in this parable was FULL OF JOY at the thought of SELLING ALL HE HAD to buy this treasure!  Can you just put on your ‘Grace eye lenses’ and let us see this parable one more time:

Who could this Man be? Oh, I love this Man! His name is Jesus! Wow! Guess who the Treasure is? Me! (smiles… OK, don’t get too jealous) You! He GAVE UP ALL HE HAS… just to ‘buy’ YOU! How did I know it was Jesus? Check this out:

‘…Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who FOR THE JOY that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame…’ (Heb. 12:2)

Wow! Can you just imagine this Jesus!!! Was so JOYFUL to endure the cross and despise the shame… Just to BUY YOU! You must be a real Treasure to Him! See what the Bible says concerning you:

‘…For you are BOUGHT with a price…’ (1Cor 6:20)

Wow! With what did He buy you?

‘…WITH HIS OWN BLOOD–not the blood of goats and calves–he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our REDEMPTION FOREVER…’ (Heb. 9:12 NLT)

Wow! It was a ‘forever buying’! WITH HIS OWN BLOOD! Hallelujah!

Don’t you just love this Jesus? You can’t know this kind of Truth and not want to glorify Him in your life!

‘…For you are BOUGHT with a price…therefore glorify the Lord with your body. ..’ (1Cor 6:20)

Indeed, He is the SAVIOUR Like No Other! Tell Him some sweet words after reading this.
