Eternal Forgiveness

For your sins to be eternally forgiven, two criteria must be met.

First: your sacrificial animal must be WITHOUT any blemish.

Second: your sacrificial animal must have an ‘ETERNAL’ nature!

This was a clear rule in the Old Testament.

‘…Take for yourself a bull calf for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both WITHOUT BLEMISH…’ (Lev 9:2)

And even though the priests carefully examined the animals of the Old Testament, it still could not perfectly remove the sins of the people! Because bulls and goats are not ‘eternal’ beings!

‘…The plain fact is that bull and goat blood can’t get rid of sin…’ (Heb. 10:4 MSG)

Plain fact indeed! It could only manage to cover it for one year! (Heb. 10:3) It met the first criteria of being without blemish but couldn’t meet the second criteria of having an ‘eternal nature’! Temporal beings remove sins temporarily! Eternal beings remove sins permanently! Hence the next verse:

‘…That is why, when Christ came into the world, he said to God, “YOU DID NOT WANT ANIMAL sacrifices or sin offerings. BUT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME A BODY TO OFFER…’ (Heb 10:5 NLT)

Wow. Animal bodies CANNOT handle the matter…so God prepared an ‘eternal body’ to solve the sin puzzle! But, it is one thing for your Lamb to be Eternal…and it is another thing for your Lamb to be WITHOUT blemish.

Now the Big Question is this: how sure are we that this our eternal Lamb has NO BLEMISH? We won’t second-guess His purity, we will rather have to confirm it. Can I show you the Curriculum Vitae (C.V) of the Lamb that died for you? Check this out:

Peter: ‘…He did NO SIN…’ (1Peter 2:22)

Pilate: ‘…I find NO FAULT in him…’ (John 19:4)

Pilate’ Wife: ‘…Have nothing to do with that RIGHTEOUS Man…’ (Matt 27:19)

Chief Priest and Sanhedrin: ‘…were looking for false testimony against Jesus but THEY COULDN’T FIND ANY…’ (Mark 14:55)

Thief on the cross: ‘…this man has done NOTHING WRONG…’ (Luke 23:41)

Demon: ‘…I know who you are–the HOLY ONE of God!” (Mark 1:24)

Such an unbeatable record of Righteousness! No wonder the scripture concludes:

‘…He is the kind of High priest we need because he is HOLY and BLAMELESS, UNSTAINED BY SIN. He has been set apart from sinners and has been given the highest place of honor in heaven…’ (Heb. 7:26 NLT)

Unstained by sin! ‘Blemishless’ to the core! Your sacrificial animal met the requirements for your eternal redemption! Eternal and without blemish. This is the very assurance that your salvation is eternal!

‘…With his own blood–NOT THE BLOOD OF GOATS AND CALVES–he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and SECURED OUR REDEMPTION FOREVER…’ (Heb 9:12 NLT)

Oh Lord! And even though you have messed up to the ‘gutter-most’….This eternal Lamb is able to save you to the ‘uttermost’….and ensure your life ends up in the ‘uppermost’. If you allow Him, he will save you from eternal death and also deliver you from those sinful addictions so you can manifest the ‘newness of life’ He gave to you.

‘…Wherefore he is able also to save them to the UTTERMOST that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them…’ (Heb 7:25)

Indeed, worthy is the Lamb that was slain. Amen.
