Go and Sin No More

Go and Sin No More

After you have understood that the gospel of Grace is not a license to a sinful life… The next thing is to understand that ‘staying under Law’ will never help you to overcome sinful/immoral life! Have you ever thought of the reaction of the Pharisees to this statement of Jesus…

‘…He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her…’ (John 8:7)

The Pharisees (who were known for strict HOLINESS) brought this woman in order to see if Jesus would condemn her. But after Jesus gave the above reply, their reaction was very remarkable! Read carefully:

‘…And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last…’ (John 8:9)

Please don’t miss what’s going on here. There are 2 things to take note of here.

1) WHY they left the place — (they were convicted by their conscience)… and…

2) HOW they left the place — (according to their age, from the eldest to youngest)

Have you gotten that?  Now hear this: ‘HOW’ they left was proportional to ‘WHY’ they left!

In other words, they left in ‘age order’ according to how ‘convicted of sin’ they were!

‘…And they which heard it, being CONVICTED by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at THE ELDEST, even unto the last…’ (John 8:9)

So what did you notice? Simple. The ELDEST PHARISEE was the GREATEST SINNER! Did you see that?

Summary: the more you grow in the LAW….the more you find out you are growing in SIN!

‘…the STRENGTH of sin is the LAW…’ (1Corinthians 15:56)

Listen: if the strength of ‘sin’ is the Law, then it simply follows that the strength of ‘righteousness’ is GRACE! No wonder after Jesus had exposed that growing in sin (of the Pharisees) was as a result of their ‘growing in Law’…Jesus ended the woman’s predicament with this statement:

‘…NEITHER do I condemn you…Go and SIN NO MORE’ (John 8:11)

If you don’t receive the Gracious part of ‘Neither do I condemn you…’ you will never experience the power to ‘go and sin no more’! Always remember that if the strength of ‘sin’ is the Law, then it simply follows that the strength of ‘righteousness’ is GRACE! The more you grow in the LAW….the more you find out you are growing in SIN!

My simple advice: ‘…grow in GRACE…’ (2Peter 3:18) And you will be empowered to ‘go and SIN NO MORE’. Amen.
