Honeymoon Forever

Every single and intending couple look towards the moment referred to as “honeymoon”. Honeymoon is generally accepted as that short but glorious moment in marriage in which a large chunk of the pleasures marriage has to offer is deeply explored…before the couple start facing ‘realities of life’.

Now, sometimes we joke and say about marriage, “The honeymoon is over.” But that’s because we are finite.We can’t sustain a honeymoon level of intensity andaffection. We can’t foresee the irritations that comewith long-term familiarity. We can’t stay as fit andhandsome as we were then. We can’t come up withenough new things to keep the relationship thatfresh.Hence the “rushy feeling” within couples to explore as much as possible before reality dawns.

But God says his joy over his people is like a BRIDEGROOM OVER A BRIDE!

‘…And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So your God will rejoice over you…’ (Isaiah 62:5)

You probably have read that verse before…but take a closer look on it again… Did you realize God was not referring to the rejoicing of a ‘husband’ over the ‘wife’… but… a ‘bridegroom’ over the ‘bride’? Oh! He is talking about honeymoon intensity and honeymoon pleasure and honeymoon energy and excitement and enthusiasm and enjoyment.  He is trying to get into your heart what He means when He says he rejoices over you with all His heart. Just feel His vibes:

‘…The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; He will REST in his love, he will joy OVER YOU with singing…’ (Zeph. 3:17)

This must be honeymoon indeed! And add to this, that with God the honeymoon NEVER ends.  Unlike finite humans, He is infinite in power and wisdom and creativity and love. And so He has no trouble sustaining a honeymoon level of intensity; He can foresee all the future quirks of your personality and has decided He will keep what’s good and change what isn’t; He will always be as handsome as He ever was, and will see that you get more and more beautiful forever!

‘…He fills my life with good things, so that I STAY YOUNG and strong like an eagle…’ (Psalm 103:5 GNT)

Oh, He will sustain your youthful beauty just to ensure the honeymoon is unending! And He is infinitely creative to think of new things to do together so that there will be no boredom for the next trillion ages of millenniums!

‘…I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I DRAWN thee…’ (Jer. 31:3)

He ‘draws’ you with ‘loving-kindness’! That is the God that saved you. And that is how He longs to relate with you. No wonder He always refers to you as ‘…beloved’! (Romans 1:7) A marriage in which you don’t have to be anxious about the honeymoon procedures and the fear of the ‘realities of life’ afterwards… because in this marriage, the ‘reality’ is the honeymoon itself!

Enjoy the unending ‘honeymoon’.

‘…I have loved thee with an EVERLASTING love…’
