Have you noticed Jesus and His ‘OVER-DO’ style of performing miracles? When He was to feed 5000 men including women and children, He performed a miracle by multiplying 5loaves and 2fishes to feed 5000 counted men…with 12 BASKETS LEFT OVER! What is that? OVER-DO! He always has the FUTURE in mind when doing miracles. The 12 baskets can serve for future feeding!
When wine ran out at a wedding in Cana, He didn’t ask them to fill ONE bowl with water to turn into wine. No. Rather, the Bible revealed:
‘…And there were set there SIX WATERPOTS of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece…’ (John 2:6)
You can’t get the full picture of what is going on here if you don’t take a little time to read this in other versions.
‘…Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. EACH COULD HOLD TWENTY TO THIRTY GALLONS…’ (John 2:6 NLT)
Oh. This simply means Jesus eventually turned about 180 GALLONS (30 X 6) of water into wine! This was towards the END OF THE WEDDING when people might have been leaving! (John 2:10) That means the couple will have GALLONS of LEFT OVER wine AFTER the wedding. What is that? OVER-DO! Jesus always have the FUTURE in mind when doing miracles.
He met a woman by the well, who was reluctant to help Him fetch water to drink…and told her:
‘…If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and HE WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEE LIVING WATER… whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him SHALL NEVER THIRST; but the water that I shall give him SHALL BE IN HIM A WELL OF WATER SPRINGING UP INTO EVERLASTING LIFE…’ (John 4:10,14)
Wow! What is that? OVER-DO! Jesus always have the FUTURE in mind when performing miracles!
When Peter fished all night and caught nothing, Jesus showed up and told Peter to cast his net again into the water…
‘…And when they had this done, they inclosed a GREAT MULTITUDE of fishes: and their NET BRAKE… And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they BEGAN TO SINK. (Luke 5:6-7)
Great multitude… Net brake… Boat began to sink… What is that? OVER-DO!
Keep following attentively. When He wanted to explain His mission in John 10:10, He said:
‘… I am come that they might HAVE LIFE, and that they might HAVE IT MORE ABUNDANTLY…’ (John 10:10)
This my Jesus eh! He could have simply said: I have come that they might HAVE LIFE….but He still went ahead to say … that they might HAVE IT MORE….in fact, He still added one more word to the word ‘more’…. that they might have it more ABUNDANTLY…!!! What is that? OVER-DO! MORE ABUNDANTLY simply means you can never EXHAUST the life He gives. Always having your future in mind.
Now imagine how He will SAVE any sinner that approaches Him for Salvation? He won’t only forgive his PAST SINS… He won’t even stop at His PRESENT sins… I tell you the truth, He will go further to save the sinner’s FUTURE sins!!!
‘…Wherefore he is able also to save them TO THE UTTERMOST that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them…’ (Hebrews 7:25 KJV)
‘…Therefore he is able, ONCE AND FOREVER, to save those who come to God through him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf…’ (Hebrews 7:25 NLT)
In fact, see the above verse in The Living Bible (TLB) version:
‘…He is able to save COMPLETELY all who come to God through him. Since he will live forever, he will ALWAYS be there TO REMIND GOD THAT HE HAS PAID FOR THEIR SINS WITH HIS BLOOD…’ (Hebrews 7:25 TLB)
Wow! What is that? OVER-DO! Hallelujah. Now you can understand when the Bible says:
‘…But where sin increased, God’s kindness increased EVEN MORE…’ (Romans 5:20 GWT)
What is that? OVER-DO!
Listen carefully: you can’t claim to know Jesus….unless you have experienced His OVER-DO way of doing things!
Therefore, I can safely conclude that if your ‘future sins’ are yet to be forgiven…
It simply means it wasn’t Jesus who saved you! (Romans 5:9)
Amen.
