Solomon was appointed king to rule over a people who the Bible described thus:
‘…Judah and Israel were many, AS THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEA IN MULTITUDE…’ (1Kings 4:20)
Now that’s not going to be an easy task. In fact, just a chapter before the above, Solomon told God that:
‘…thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a GREAT people, THAT CANNOT BE NUMBERED NOR COUNTED FOR MULTITUDE…’ (1Kings 3:8)
He was bothered about the multitude of people which was committed to his care to lead. Left to Solomon, he was not qualified to handle this capacity because he saw himself as:
‘…just a youth with no experience in leadership…’ (1Kings 3:7 HCSB)
The King James version brings this verse out in a more interesting way:
‘…I am but a little child: I know not HOW TO GO OUT or COME IN…’ (1Kings 3:7)
Can you imagine the challenge ahead of this young man? By all standards, he was not capable to handle this challenge. The people were not just many…they were many, AS THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEA IN MULTITUDE…’ (1Kings 4:20)
Are you also facing any challenge that seems to be as great as ‘THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEA IN MULTITUDE…’? Health challenge? Financial challenge? Marital Challenge? Career challenge? Spiritual challenge?
Well, I have good news for you. Yes it is true that Solomon had a challenge as great as ‘THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEA …’ But God was not taken by surprise on that! What did God do? Read carefully from the same chapter:
‘…God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding EXCEEDING MUCH, and largeness of heart, EVEN AS THE SAND THAT IS ON THE SEA SHORE…’ (1Kings 4:29)
Oh…how I love Jesus! The challenge was ‘much’ as THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEA (1Kings 4:20) But God gave Solomon wisdom ‘exceeding much’ even as THE SAND THAT IS ON THE SEA SHORE! (1Kings 4:29) What was the result of this?
‘…But now the LORD my God hath GIVEN ME REST ON EVERY SIDE, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent…’ (1Kings 5:4)
Hallelujah! That is your Abba for you. To every difficult situation that is as ‘much’ as THE SAND WHICH IS BY THE SEA (1Kings 4:20), God will always respond with ‘exceeding much’ solution even as THE SAND THAT IS ON THE SEA SHORE! (1Kings 4:29) Indeed, ‘…our SUFFICIENCY is of God’ (2Cor 3:5) Where the challenge abounds…Favour super abounds!
Now you can understand the principle of Grace with which God works with us as sons:
‘…But where sin abounded, grace did MUCH MORE abound…’ (Romans 5:20)
Always have this mindset concerning all your endeavours. If you are sick, say to yourself; ‘…where sickness abounds, Divine Health MUCH MORE abounds’! (2Cor 12:9) If you are broke, say to yourself; ‘…where poverty abounds, God’s provision MUCH MORE abounds’! (Psalm 23:1) If you feel you are oppressed by spiritual forces, say to yourself; ‘…where oppression abounds, God’s Liberty MUCH MORE abounds’! (Isaiah 43:2) When going for an interview, say to yourself; ‘…where fear abounds, God’s wisdom MUCH MORE abounds’! (Dan 2:21) When preparing for a difficult exam, say to yourself; ‘…where failure abounds, God’s Spirit of Excellence MUCH MORE abounds’! (Daniel 6:3) For pregnant women going for delivery, say to yourself; ‘…where labour abounds, Gracious Delivery MUCH MORE abounds’! (Psalm 28:7) Always see God SUPPLYING his favour to every of your challenge!
‘…And God is ABLE TO BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work…’ (2Cor 9:8 NIV)
Don’t limit God! He did it for Solomon, He is able to do it for you… ABUNDANTLY!
Where there was only 5 loaves and 2 fishes, thousands of loaves and fishes MUCH MORE abounded! Philip was analyzing the situation: ‘…Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them’ (John 6:7NLT) The multiplication was so dramatic that the Bible says: ‘…And they all ate AS MUCH AS THEY WANTED…’ (John 6:11 NLT) Glory. There was MUCH MORE abounding Grace available for the situation.
That’s Jesus for you. Rest in His Super Abounding Grace for you…and very soon, you will testify like Solomon:
‘…But now the LORD my God hath GIVEN ME REST ON EVERY SIDE, so that there is neither adversary nor evil occurrent…’ (1Kings 5:4)
