Proverbs 6 did more of a repetition of all that has been instructed in the previous chapters. Yet! We see inclusions “very” germane to living out wisdom. First was wisdom on how to free from a self entrapment by being a guarantor for someone else… I so love the way out.
…GO, HUMBLE YOURSELF, and appeal firmly to your neighbor. | Proverbs 6:3 NET
Humility is a virtue that has the capability to deliver you from snares. It is rafas in Hebrew which is to stamp oneself down, swallow ones pride. The reason why you gotta swallow your pride is because you are going to beg. You got ensnared by your words, you also get delivered by words
However, I won’t round off chapter 6 without linking it to the Gospel of Grace. The law binds, a devotee is ensnared by it and ultimately bound by it. It is wisdom to be humble in RECIEVING from the Lord and the way to is by confessing God’s Word. I am not talking about positive confession, I am talking about aligning to your words with what God says about you.
Positive confession is saying “I am going higher everyday” but Word Confession is saying “I am seated in Christ high in the heavenly realms”.Words are super important in enjoying the best of God.That’s why in Proverbs 6:20ff NET it says…
My child, guard the commands of your father and do not forsake the instruction of your mother. Bind them on your heart continually; fasten them around your neck.
To bind them expresses a figure of comparison but in depth it means BE A DISCIPLE OF THESE WORDS… A disciple is expected to take up the culture, virtues and values of the master as the master leads and guides…That’s why the verses following says this…
When you walk about, they will guide you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; when you wake up, they will talk to you. For the commandments are like a lamp, instruction is like a light, and rebukes of discipline are like the road leading to life…
So, what words are you a disciple of? …what word is shaping your life? …what word is steering the course of your existence?
As always… I commend you to GOD and to the WORD OF HIS GRACE…
REMAIN IN GRACE ALWAYS
