You can’t claim to be a believer and comfortably have pornographic CDs hidden in your bedroom.
What kind of a believer are you???
‘…But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and MAKE NOT PROVISION FOR THE FLESH, TO FULFIL THE LUSTS thereof…’ (Romans 13:14)
No believer is permitted to be COMFORTABLE with a sinful habit!
Don’t just ask what you should do to those discs.
BREAK THEM INTO PIECES while praying in the Spirit!
As believers, we are constantly in a spiritual warfare…
Never should you get to a point where you are now ‘complacent’ with sinful habits!
NEVER!
NEVER!!
NEVER!!!
Hmm…
Yes you are already FORGIVEN!
But No, you are not PERMITTED!
FORGIVENESS is not equal to PERMISSION!
‘…For YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED TO LIVE IN FREEDOM, my brothers and sisters. BUT DON’T USE YOUR FREEDOM TO SATISFY YOUR SINFUL NATURE…’ (Gal 5:13 NLT)
If you are battling a ‘pornography addiction’, don’t get complacent about it!
A “complacent Christian” is an oxymoron!
Fight it back with the new nature of RIGHTEOUSNESS you have in Christ Jesus!
Be devoted to Bible study, adequate fellowship with other believers, accountability to a godly friend or mentor and prayers!
Hmm…
Now listen carefully: Feeling ‘comfortable’ with a sinful lifestyle is an acid test to know an UNBELIEVER among BELIEVERS!
A true believer does not sin ‘happily’! (1Cor 5:2)
Hmm…
Are you a believer?
Then wake up to the reality of who you are in Christ!
‘…Awake to righteousness, and sin not…’ (1Cor 15:34)
You can’t afford to live a defeated Christian life!
The Bible describes some sets of unbelievers this way:
‘…HAVING EYES FULL OF ADULTERY, and that cannot cease from sin;… CURSED CHILDREN…’ (2Peter 2:14)
Oh!
Don’t be comfortable with a lifestyle of CURSED children!
Lay your hands on your eyes and say: I DO NOT HAVE EYES FULL OF ADULTERY, I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST!
And in case you ‘fall’ into pornography temptation again…don’t STAY DOWN in the temptation!
RISE BACK IMMEDIATELY!
‘…For a righteous man FALLS seven times, and RISES AGAIN…’ (Proverbs 24:16)
That’s the attitude of a ‘righteous’ man….he does not stay down!
Deliberately distance your self from things or friends that can lure you into it again!
It’s a warfare…that requires your involvement!
Not a ‘self-effort’ involvement…but a deliberate involvement of your NEW NATURE in Christ.
You DON’T condemn yourself when you fall…but NEVER get satisfied with failure!
Let me say that again…
You DON’T condemn yourself when you fall…but NEVER get satisfied with failure!
Glorifying Jesus with your body should be your daily attainment.
The Bible says you are ‘…born again, not of corruptible seed, but of INCORRUPTIBLE…’ (1Peter 1:23)
Therefore, fight that ‘corruptible’ habit with your ‘incorruptible’ nature.
‘…WE KNOW that God’s children DO NOT MAKE A PRACTICE OF SINNING, for God’s Son holds them securely…’ (1John 5:18 NLT)
We Know!
I hope you know too!
Never should you be comfortable with a ‘practice of sin’!
One major trace of a growing believer is the ability to ‘…SHUT YOUR EYES TO ALL ENTICEMENT TO DO WRONG…’ (Isaiah 33:15 NLT)
Excel in this area too!
Train your eyes to shun evil!
If you ‘fail’, RISE again!
Keep at it in the light of the finished work of Christ for you.
Gradually you will realize you are winning, overcoming and becoming more stable as the days go by.
Hallelujah!
Christ has made you righteous!
And that Righteousness should motivate you to ‘…offer your body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God…’ (Romans 12:1)
Don’t just be a believer in words.
Be a believer in DEEDS too.
And great shall be your rewards.
I hope we are still friends?
Amen.
