Thirsty for Righteousness?

The Bible says:

‘…Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.…’ (Matt 5:6)

So you see some people praying… ‘Lord, fill me with your righteousness… I’m hungry and thirsty for your righteousness…or… fill my cup Lord, I lift it up Lord…’

Now hear this: you are either still ‘HUNGERING AND THIRSTING’ after righteousness…or you are FILLED with Righteousness!

That verse is referring to TWO different dispensations. You are either seeing righteousness as a DEMAND to attain…or…as a GIFT you obtain! In an expression for his hunger and thirst for righteousness, David said:

‘…O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my SOUL THIRSTETH for thee, my FLESH LONGETH for thee in a dry and thirsty land, WHERE NO WATER IS…’ (Psalm 63:1)

Many believers still see themselves in this state of ‘hunger and thirst’ where there is no water…just like David! But Jesus said this concerning all who are hungering and thirsting after ‘Righteousness’…

‘… If ANY MAN THIRST, let him come unto ME, and drink. He that BELIEVETH ON ME, as the scripture hath said, out of HIS BELLY SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER…’ (John 7:37-38)

Wow… In David’s search for Righteousness, he stated that his search was in a region ‘…WHERE NO WATER IS…’ (Psalm 63:1) But Jesus said ‘…He that BELIEVETH ON ME, as the scripture hath said, out of HIS BELLY SHALL FLOW RIVERS OF LIVING WATER…’ (John 7:37-38)

Now listen carefully: Before you became born again, you were in the same situation as David…’… my SOUL THIRSTETH for thee, my FLESH LONGETH for thee in a dry and thirsty land, WHERE NO WATER IS…’ (Psalm 63:1) But after you BELIEVED in Jesus…you were FILLED with RIGHTEOUSNESS! You are no longer in a state ‘where no water is’…..but now, you have been translated into a state where ‘out of your belly FLOWS out RIVERS OF LIVING WATER’! You are NOT searching for the water! The water is NOW in you!!! You are NOT searching for righteousness! Righteousness is NOW in you!!! Jesus was very emphatic about this satisfaction in every believer:

“…but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will NEVER thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become IN HIM a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:14)

Hallelujah.

Listen carefully: in the realest sense of the new covenant, there is no such thing as a “thirsty” believer! If you have placed your faith in Jesus, you are FILLED! The problem isn’t that you are not thirsty. Rather, you are not flowing.

…out of your belly FLOWS out RIVERS OF LIVING WATER…

Simply let this Righteousness FLOW OUT from inside you as a testimony to the world that Jesus is Lord! You are already FILLED with Righteousness!

‘…for He has made us the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Christ…’ (2Cor 5:21)

Manifest it in the name of Jesus Christ. Oh glory to Jesus. So when next you read the verse:

‘…Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.…’ (Matt 5:6)

Remember to tell yourself: I am no longer hungering and thirsting after Righteousness! Because I have believed in Jesus, I am now FILLED with Righteousness! Therefore, out of my belly FLOWS out RIVERS of LIVING WATERS!!!
