Giving Rightly Gets God’s Rewards

Giving Rightly Gets God’s Rewards

Once upon a time, there was a gardener who grew an enormous carrot. So he came to the palace, and said to his king “My lord, I’m a gardener, and this is the greatest carrot I’ve ever grown and ever hope to grow. Therefore, I am presenting it to you as a token of my love and respect.”

The king was touched and discerned the man’s heart. He said “I have a field that lies next to yours. I give this field to you so that you can farm it along with your own.” The gardener went home rejoicing.

A nobleman in the court overheard this and he thought to himself “A field for a carrot!” So, the next day, he came to the king with a magnificent stallion: “I breed horses,” he said “and this is the finest horse I have ever bred or ever will breed, so I am presenting it to you as a token of my love and respect.”

The king discerned his heart and said “Well, thank you very much.” The nobleman couldn’t hide his disappointment. So, the king said “Let me explain: The gardener was giving ME the carrot, but you were giving YOURSELF the horse.”

(Culled from the book: “the prodigal God” by Tim Keller).

The above is simply to explain what I meant in the previous post(s):

Giving in other to get is “fetish” (sick)

Giving not knowing you will get is “foolish” (sad).

God is a Rewarder.

And in fact, it is His Job Description (Heb 11:6)

But God is also our Father!

And that is His Family Designation. (Romans 8:15)

Giving to get is what tows us the path of legalism and lust consumption

But when we give simply out of Love, we tow the path of Grace that doesn’t dictate the reward.

We are simply saturated with the Persom we are giving to…seeking to Please Him no matter any outcome of life.

This will definitely lead to a lifestyle of Grace

Allowing our Saviour who is all-knowing fix us Himself in His own way to the Praise of the Glory of His Grace (Eph 1:6).

Do not give to get.

That is transactional; which will eventually end in a frustration as God does not deal that way.

But know that your God is a Rewarder.

Able to Reward you both now and in the World to come.

Keep Your focus on Him as your actual Reward.

‘After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I AM thy shield, and thy exceeding great REWARD.’ (Gen 15:1)

Let Him be Your satisfaction.

And watch Him reward You in His own way, own pace and own Grace.

All the glory belonging to Him.

The God of all Grace.

Amen.
